USC Trojans Get A Needed Boost To The 2025 Offense

After the crushing blow of Emmanuel Pregnon entering the Transfer Portal, the USC Trojans have gained a little momentum in recent days.

They earned commitments from offensive lineman DJ Winfield, quarterback Sam Huard, and running back Waymond Jordan Jr.

Winfield will compete to start at guard or center. Huard is a nice addition to the QB room and has high-upside to push both Jayden Maiava and Husan Longstreet. Jordan Jr. was the number one JUCO RB in the portal and made the Trojans RB room one of the deepest in the conference.

Now Lincoln Riley just got more good news that will keep the high trajectory for the offense.

Starting TE Lake McRee Will Return To USC Trojans For Final Season

Lake McRee started the 2024 season strong before getting injured in the Michigan game. He would miss minimal time and get back in the lineup for the Maryland game and finish the season.

After opening the season with 9 catches and 137 yards in the first two games, he would finish 2024 with 24 receptions and 245 yards.

McRee is a very capable pass catcher, but is also a very strong blocker and is instrumental in the run game.

The tight end room is loaded heading into the 2025 season.

  • Lake McRee
  • Joey Olsen
  • Walter Matthews
  • Walker Lyons
  • Carson Tabaracci
  • Nela Tupou

As of this writing, news just broke that the USC Trojans are hiring Colorado State WR Coach Chad Savage as the new Tight Ends coach. He will certainly have plenty of talent to work with, and Lake McRee will be a very useful leader in the room.
