The Los Angeles Dodgers, with their early 2025 season start due to the Tokyo Series against the Chicago Cubs, have begun the process of finalizing their roster. This has necessitated early and difficult decisions, resulting in several players being reassigned to Minor League camp.
Los Angeles Dodgers Make Final Decisions For Tokyo Series
As announced by the official Dodgers account on X, starting pitcher Bobby Miller and infielder/outfielder Hyeseong Kim are among the most notable players optioned to the minors, meaning they will not be traveling to Japan. They are joined by Giovanny Gallegos, Dalton Rushing, David Bote, Michael Chavis, and Eddie Rosario, all of whom were non-roster invitees to Spring Training.
LA’s exceptionally deep roster has made these cuts inevitable. With strength across multiple positions and a wealth of promising prospects, the team is well-prepared to handle potential injuries. The high standards within the Dodgers organization demand that players consistently elevate their performance to earn a place on the major league roster.

Bobby Miller’s omission is particularly significant, although his path to the starting rotation was always challenging, given the pitching depth. His spring training was further complicated by an unfortunate injury sustained when he was struck by a line drive in his first start, from which he is still recovering.
Hyeseong Kim, despite his defensive versatility, was unable to secure a roster spot due to his offensive struggles. Despite receiving numerous opportunities, he hit only .207 in 29 spring at-bats, with 11 strikeouts. His ability to play multiple infield and outfield positions suggests he could be called upon later in the season to provide depth in case of injuries.
Among the non-roster invitees, Dalton Rushing is considered a top prospect with a bright future in the Dodgers organization. However, his path to regular playing time is currently blocked by the presence of Will Smith and Austin Barnes at the catcher position.
