USC Trojans Transfer Portal Defensive Line Rank Extremely High

It has been a busy offseason for the USC Trojans, and for the most part, a very positive one. We have spoken at length about the elite coaching and front office hires, but just how well have the Trojans faired thus far in the transfer portal?

As it stands right now, SC has added 10 players while losing 22. That number of additions will certainly rise once the spring portal opens, especially with the new staff in place.

However, while the number seems low, as the saying goes, quality over quantity is sometimes best.

Of the 10 transfers, 3 are 4-star transfers, and 2 of those 4-stars are on the defensive line. Out of every position on the team, the defensive line is what needed to improve the most over this offseason.

Just how much has it improved so far?

According to On3, both USC transfers, Keeshawn Silver and Jamaal Jarrett rank inside the Top 10 defensive line transfers.

USC Trojans Building A Talented Defensive Line

Keeshawn Silver, the 6’4, 322-pound DT out of Kentucky, is ranked 2nd among all defensive linemen, and Jamaal Jarrett, the 6’5, 380-pound DT out of Georgia, is the 9th-ranked DL.

The addition of these two, plus the talent that is returning and being added through the 2025 class, is bolstering the room and putting them in a position to be the most improved unit in the entire Big Ten.

Just take a look at the USC Trojans potential defensive line depth:

  • Anthony Lucas
    • Kam Fountain
  • Keeshawn Silver
    • Jamaal Jarrett
  • Devan Thompkins
    • Jahkeem Stewart
    • Jide Abasiri
  • Braylon Shelby

We have to see it play out, but on paper, that is an extremely solid and versatile unit. And similar to Thompkins last year, someone like Carlon Jones or Lorenzo Cowan will surprise people and get unexpected reps.

This is a talented group headlined by the two incoming transfers. Lincoln Riley, Eric Henderson, and the rest of the staff will look to fill out the rest of the roster in the spring portal window.
