The Recap Zone: Week 10 Top Performers

LAFB fam, I’m back with another edition of The Recap Zone. Week 10 is in the books and by now you should know where your fantasy football team stands. If you’re looking at a five percent chance to make the playoffs like my team, don’t lose hope because every once in awhile a Hail Mary is caught. I went a little out on a limb with some of my picks this past week, and at a glance, it looks like it is going to affect my season prediction average. So let’s jump right into it.

Top Quarterbacks

For Week 10, I tabbed Kyler Murray, Jake Luton, and Deshaun Watson as my top performers. Murray had the best week of the bunch coming in at #2 with 29.90 points. The drop off was considerable after that. The Texans weren’t able to muster any offense and Watson came in at #16 with 14.12 points. Luton came in at #22 with an 8.76 point performance. Tom Brady was #1 with 31.84 points, his third trip into the weekly top 3. Ben Roethlisberger was #3 with 29.32, his first time in the top 5 this year.

Top Running Backs

My running back picks this week were the worst they’ve been this whole year. I tabbed Aaron Jones, Dalvin Cook, and Melvin Gordon. None of them were even in the top fifteen for fantasy points. Cook and Jones were #16 and #17 with 15.20 points and 14.50 points respectively. The Broncos were down quite a bit and forced to throw the ball often, souring Gordon’s performance. He ended at #44 with just 4.60 points. Alvin Kamara led all fantasy RB’s with 34.80 points and with Josh Jacobs and Nyheim Hines rounding out the top 3 with 28+ point performances.

Top Wide Receivers

This was only the second time this year where the top receivers didn’t surpass 30+ points. The WR’s I tabbed in Week 10 were DeAndre Hopkins, DJ Chark, Will Fuller, Cooper Kupp, Mike Williams, and Jarvis Landry. Hopkins was the best of the group coming in at #2 with 25.70 points. Everyone else, well, underperformed. Kupp was #39 with 10 points, Chark #41 with 9.60 points, and Fuller at #46 with 8.80 points. Landry and Williams barely broke the five-point mark with 5.90 and 5.80 points. A pair of Bills receivers in Cole Beasley and Stefon Diggs were #1 and #3 with 27.90 and 25.30 points.

Top Tight Ends

The TE’s that I tabbed as top performers this week were Noah Fant, Mark Andrews, and Eric Ebron. Andrews was in a tie for #1 this week with Rob Gronkowski at 13.10 points. Ebron was #19 with 5.80 points and Fant was #23 with 4.80 points. Hunter Henry and Cameron Brate rounded out the top three with 13 points and 12.10 points. As you can tell, it was a very low scoring week for TEs across the board.

Top Kickers

The kickers that I picked for this past week were Jason Sanders, Ryan Succop, and Robbie Gould. Succop was tied with Matt Prater at #2 with 16 points. Sanders just missed the top three and was #5 with 13 points. Gould was right in the middle of the pack with 7 points. Tyler Bass led kickers this week with 18 points. Daniel Carlson was #3 with 15 points.

Top DEF/STs

For my defensive/special teams pick in Week 10, I had the New Orleans Saints, New York Giants, and Miami Dolphins as my top performers. The Saints were the best of the group with 14 points good for the #2 spot. The Dolphins and the Giants were tied at 4 points, right in the middle of the pack of performers. The best defense/special teams in Week 10 was the Raiders with 16 points. The Rams came in at #3 with 13 points.

To Conclude

So this week of predictions wasn’t as great as I thought it would be. My predictions were still able to find five players in the top performances of their respective positions, but obviously, that’s not what I was anticipating. The 5-for-21 mark seems to be similar to my output this last few weeks at a .238 average. For the season, I’m now at 46-for-205, a .224 clip on the year. That means I only jumped .002 points from Week 9. It is a step in the positive direction, but with seven weeks left in the regular season, the quest for a .300 average is going to be difficult. That’s all for this week and I’ll you all next week on The Recap Zone.
