NFL 2021: Week 7 Waiver Must-Haves
It is Week 7, and there are six teams on the bye week, not to mention the injuries that keep happening.
Teams on a Bye: Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Jacksonville Jaguars, Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, and Pittsburgh Steelers.
So you may have to scour the waiver wire out of necessity. Here are a few players to consider.
QUARTERBACKS
TUA TAGOVAILOA, 17% ROSTERED vs. ATLANTA FALCONS
Tagovailoa played his first game off IR Week 6 against Jacksonville. Tagovailoa went 33-of-47, 329 passing yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He also ran three times for 22 yards.
This week the Dolphins will play the Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons are currently giving up an average of 22.2 fantasy points to the quarterback position, and they are also allowing an average of 244.4 passing yards per game.
What is really good is there is a chance Tagovailoa gets DeVante Parker back this week.
ALSO, CONSIDER
JAMEIS WINSTON, 37% ROSTERED, @ SEATTLE WASHINGTON
While Winston has not topped over 300 passing yards this season, his passing yards have increased. In the last three games, he has gone from 128, to 226, to 279 passing yards. In those games, he also has seven passing touchdowns and just one interception.
WIDE RECEIVERS
RASHOD BATEMAN, ROSTERED 28%, vs. CINCINNATI BENGALS
The Ravens are currently averaging 32.3 passing attempts per game, up from last year’s 25.9.
Bateman played on 65% of the offensive snaps in Week 6, the second most behind Marquise Brown. He also tied Mark Andrews for a team-leading six targets.
In Week 6, he only finished with four receptions for 29 yards, but he is worth a roster spot with that type of usage in a divisional game against the Bengals.
ALSO, CONSIDER
DEVANTE PARKER, 40% ROSTERED, vs. ATLANTA FALCONS
If healthy, Parker is worth a roster spot.
RUNNING BACKS
JD MCKISSIC, 42% ROSTERED @ GREEN BAY PACKERS
Antonio Gibson is suffering from a stress fracture in his shin.
In Week 6, he was in and out of the game with an injury. The result was McKissic played on 36 of the offensive snaps and Gibson only 13. McKissic was also targeted 10 times for eight receptions and 65 receiving yards.
In yet another week where the WFT looks to be playing catch-up (Packers 9.5 point favorite), McKissic should see action in both the run and passing game.
ALSO, CONSIDER
D’ERNEST JOHNSON, 2% ROSTERED, vs. DENVER BRONCOS
With the potential of the Cleveland Browns playing without both Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, Johnson will be the waiver wire darling on a team that runs the ball on an average of 50% of their offensive plays.
TIGHT ENDS
CJ UZOMAH, ROSTERED 6% @ BALTIMORE RAVENS
The Ravens are giving up the fourth-most fantasy points to the tight end position (10.8).
Last week Uzomah had three targets, three receptions for 15 yards, and a touchdown. Uzomah, while on the field for 81.1% of the snaps, only sees a 9.2% target share.
But playing against a defense that has been generous to the tight end position is a waiver-wire option that just might be too hard to pass up.
ALSO, CONSIDER
RICKY SEALS-JONES, 28% ROSTERED, @ GREEN BAY PACKERS
For the last three weeks, Seals-Jones has not seen less than 93% of the offensive snaps.
In Week 6, he was on the receiving end of six targets, four receptions, 58 yards, and one touchdown.
CONCLUSION
With bodies falling and this week six teams on a bye, the waiver wire will be more competitive than usual this week. Don’t blow your entire stash on a player for one week. Be diligent and resourceful.
