It’s officially one of the best weeks in College Football, especially in Los Angeles, and UCLA Bruins head coach DeShaun Foster is joining in on the pageantry.
The Battle for the Victory Bell is one of the most unique rivalries in all of sports because of the proximity of the the two schools.
Most, if not all, rivalries in College Football are separated by cities, and some are even in different states (Michigan – Ohio State). The UCLA and USC Trojans rivalry is the only one among Power 4 schools that is within the same City, separated by only 12 miles.
So when we say it divides households, it literally is true among many Angelenos.
UCLA head coach DeShaun Foster played in this game. In 1998, Foster’s freshman season, he was a part of the historic team that beat USC for the 8th consecutive season. Unfortunately for him and the team, they lost the next 5 straight.
I don’t think there is any love loss between Foster and the Trojans and he let the world know how he feels about the team out east.

Foster told Ben Bolch of the LA Times, “A lot of families, the smarter one usually comes over here and the other one goes to the other school and then the family is torn.”
You never want to give an opposing team bulletin board material, but during rivalry week, sometimes it is welcomed motivation. And having an alumni and former player, as the head coach will certainly fire up the team and the fan base.

After a tough loss at the Rose Bowl in 2022, the UCLA Bruins mauled the Trojans last year at the Coliseum and took the Victory Bell back to Westwood.
Will they keep it this year, or will it head back to LA with a fresh coat of Cardinal paint?
The pageantry begins at 7:30 PM on Saturday at the Rose Bowl.
