Rams Sean McVay Comments On Trade Deadline Plans Amid Bengals Rumors

The Los Angeles Rams appear likely to stand pat as the NFL trade deadline approaches at 4 p.m. ET on Nov. 4, but head coach Sean McVay left just enough room for intrigue.

Rams “Less likely” to make a move

Speaking with reporters Monday, McVay said it’s “less likely” the Rams make another trade this season. “There hasn’t been a lot of conversations,” he added, “but what you never say is never.” At 6-2 and atop the NFC West, the Rams’ roster is firing on all cylinders. The offense has delivered multiple 30-plus-point games, while the defense has held opponents to 10 points or fewer in three consecutive contests.

Greg Beacham posted to X, “I don’t think so.” –Sean McVay, when asked if he’s anticipating any trade deadline moves by the Rams. “There haven’t been a lot of conversations, but what you never say is never.”

The team’s first trade of the year—acquiring cornerback Roger McCreary from the Titans—was primarily a depth move; he played just 11 snaps on special teams in his debut while ramping up to contribute on defense in future games.

Despite a contented core, the Rams have shown interest in Cincinnati Bengals players, including linebacker Logan Wilson, edge rusher Trey Hendrickson, and cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt, according to The Athletic’s Dianna Russini. While it remains unclear which of these players is the priority, Hendrickson and Wilson are the most logical fits. Hendrickson, a proven pass rusher with 34.5 sacks over the past two seasons, would likely come at a steep price, potentially including a first-round pick. Wilson, a consistently productive linebacker, could reinforce the middle of the defense alongside Nate Landman without commanding as high a draft cost.

Taylor-Britt could help the secondary, but may overlap with recent additions, including McCreary.

A Measured Approach

The Rams’ front office, led by general manager Les Snead, has taken a deliberate approach to the last several seasons around the trade deadline. Unlike in previous years when the team swung for big-name stars late in the season, McVay and Snead are showing prudence—seeking incremental upgrades rather than a major overhaul.

Still, the appetite for strategic additions remains. As McVay hinted, “You never say never.” Whether that leads to a game-changing acquisition or a minor tweak, the Rams are clearly keeping their options open in pursuit of another Super Bowl run.

With the trade deadline imminent, all eyes will be on Los Angeles to see if McVay’s breadcrumbs lead to action or if the Rams ride their current momentum into the playoffs.
