The Los Angeles Chargers are going to need to address their need at the EDGE position. Long-time star Joey Bosa was just released in an effort to create more cap space. Khalil Mack is a pending free agent, so he could be back, but at what cost?
At the moment, Bud Dupree and Tuli Tuipulotu are the only two viable starters on the roster. So, the Chargers will need to add in free agency or the NFL Draft. There is another option as well.
The Cincinnati Bengals just announced that NFL Sack Leader Trey Hendrickson would be available via trade. If the cost is not too high, should Joe Hortiz and the Chargers get a deal done?

Los Angeles Chargers Trade A 3rd Round Pick For Trey Hendrickson
In this scenario, the Chargers would send their 3rd round pick (86th overall) to the Bengals in exchange for Hendrickson. If the Bengals would accept this deal, the Chargers should absolutely make this happen. Hendrickson led the NFL last year in just about every pass rush category.

He also led the NFL in sacks in 2023.
Hendrickson has one year left on his current deal and a roughly $19 million cap hit, per Over The Cap, so the financials should not be an issue at all. For context, Bosa was set to have a roughly $27 million cap hit and has garnered 14 combined sacks over his last three seasons.

While a third might seem a little rich to some, the production that the Los Angeles Chargers would be getting is insane. And they could sign him to a new deal, as he is still just 31 years old. Without their 3rd rounder, LA would still have 10 total picks in the draft.
