The Los Angeles Chargers went into Free Agency with the 2nd most cap space in the NFL. As it stands (not all deals are completely official yet), the Chargers still sit 2nd with roughly $80 million in cap, per Over The Cap.
Other than re-signing Khalil Mack to a one-year deal, the Chargers have been relatively quiet, especially when it comes to one of their biggest positions of need, Wide Receiver.
Earlier today, the Bolts re-signed Jalen Reagor, but that doesn’t exactly move the needle. He was only targeted 12 times last season and is viewed more as a depth piece.
Cooper Kupp was officially released from the Rams today, so he could be a potential target, but nothing has come to fruition as of yet.
But then, late in the evening, the Chargers struck and signed a familiar face.

Los Angeles Chargers Sign WR Mike Williams

After spending half a season with the New York Jets and the other half with the Pittsburgh Steelers, the Chargers and Mike Williams agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million. The former first-round pick is returning to LA where it all began.
Last year was a rough one for Williams as he finished with just 21 catches, 298 yards, and 1 touchdown. He did remain healthy, however, and played in all 18 games.
In his first seven years with the Los Angeles Chargers, Williams garnered 303 catches, 5,104 yards, and 31 touchdowns.
While this may not be the splash signing that LA fans were hoping for, it does improve the room. He brings a different skillset from both Ladd McConkey and Quentin Johnston. He is a true jump ball receiver who can stretch the field. Plus, he and quarterback Justin Herbert have a great rapport and familiarity.
If last year proved anything, it is that the Chargers will still need to add more talent to the room, but adding Mike Williams is a step in the right direction.
Thoughts, Bolt Fam?
