As the initial flurry of NFL free agency subsides, the Los Angeles Chargers have been actively managing their roster. They’ve prioritized retaining key players, successfully re-signing four of their own, while also strategically adding external talent to bolster their lineup.
With the immediate free agency period concluding, attention naturally shifts to the team’s future. The question now becomes: how does the Chargers’ 2025 free-agent class look in the wake of these recent transactions? With a few obvious needs and several quality free agents available, the Chargers still have time to add to their roster.
Los Angeles Chargers Free Agency: Day 3 Best Fits
Chargers Free Agency Target: TE Evan Engram

The Chargers are in desperate need of a true pass-catching threat at the position. The team is reportedly meeting with Evan Engram today.
Engram’s 2024 season concluded prematurely due to a torn labrum in his shoulder, necessitating surgery. This led to his release by the Jacksonville Jaguars, a move aimed at avoiding a $19.5 million cap hit in 2025, the final year of his contract. While Engram will turn 31 shortly before the start of the next season, his ability to challenge defenses as a receiving threat remains significant.
He continues to demonstrate speed and agility, particularly excelling on routes that create separation, such as crossers, overs, posts, and fades. Although his role in Jacksonville emphasized shorter routes, his potential for explosive plays after the catch is undeniable. While not considered a dominant receiver at the catch point and occasionally prone to drops, his overall receiving skills are a valuable asset. Despite not being recognized for his blocking prowess, Engram compensates for his lack of size with consistent effort in this aspect of the game. He is expected to attract interest from various teams, even if he ultimately accepts a short-term contract.
Chargers Free Agency Target: WR Elijah Moore

Over the course of his first four NFL seasons, Elijah Moore has worked with a diverse and ever-changing group of quarterbacks. This list, which includes Joe Flacco, Zach Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Jameis Winston, Mike White, Dorian Thompson-Robinson, P.J. Walker, Josh Johnson, Bailey Zappe, and Chris Streveler, reflects the instability he’s faced. Justin Herbert would be a welcome upgrade for Moore
While Moore may not have fully realized the fantasy football potential many envisioned after his promising rookie campaign in 2021, where he tallied 592 scrimmage yards and six touchdowns in just 11 games, his inherent talent remains evident. He possesses notable speed and explosiveness, coupled with route-running craftiness and dynamic after-the-catch ability. These attributes make him a worthwhile investment for a team seeking a versatile offensive weapon. Even if his primary role becomes that of a slot receiver and gadget player, his skills offer valuable contributions in the right offensive system.
Chargers Free Agency Target: DL Javon Hargrave
Just two years into a four-year, $84 million contract, Hargrave was released by the San Francisco 49ers after playing only three games in 2024 due to a torn triceps. The 49ers, constrained by salary cap considerations, must wait until March 12th to officially release him, allowing them to utilize a post-June 1st designation.
Despite his recent injury and limited playing time, Hargrave’s past performance underscores his considerable talent. He demonstrated exceptional skill not long ago. In 2022, while with the Philadelphia Eagles, he recorded a career-high 11 sacks. Furthermore, during the 2023 season with the 49ers, he played a crucial role in their Super Bowl run, contributing 44 tackles and seven sacks in the regular season, followed by a strong performance in the playoffs.
