
According to NFL Insider Ian Rapaport, the Los Angeles Chargers have just announced that they are parting ways with offensive coordinator Greg Roman, following 2 seasons with the team

This comes after an ugly loss to the New England Patriots in the Wild Card Playoff round, where the Chargers’ offense only managed to put up 3 points during the entire contest.
The Chargers have also fired offensive line coach Mike Devlin, alongside Roman. They have opted to keep assistant offensive line coach and former Chargers center Nick Hardwick.
Maligned Chargers Offensive Line
The storyline of the Chargers’ season has been on the play of the offensive line. The loss of bookend Pro Bowl tackles in LT Rashawn Slater and RT Joe Alt has caused all sorts of problems for the Chargers.
According to Next Gen Stats, this season, they have had 32 different offensive line combinations, which leads the entire NFL. They also place third in the league with sacks allowed at 60 during the regular season, including an additional 6 sacks during their lone playoff game.

It’s caused franchise QB Justin Herbert to be under siege constantly by opposing defenses.
Final Straw For Roman
Roman has worked with HC Jim Harbaugh since their time in San Francisco over a decade ago. However, the playoff loss to the Patriots was the final domino that caused the separation.
The Chargers’ offense went from 23 points per game (PPG) in 2024 to 20 PPG this season, regressing significantly.

Now with a vacant OC opening, the Chargers’ job will be one of the most sought-after across the league, with QB Justin Herbert leading the charge of a talented roster.
