At just 30 years old, Los Angeles Chargers WR Mike Williams appeared to have time left in the NFL. He apparently disagreed, walking away from the game for good.
The loss of Williams opens up a can of worms for the Chargers, but for Williams, his exit marks a moment of reflection on what took place during his eight-year career in the NFL.
Here’s a look at his brightest seasons in that time.
Most Touchdowns With Los Angeles Chargers – 2018
Williams didn’t have the same yardage output as in several other seasons, but Williams was a touchdown machine in 2018. It was the best touchdown total of his career with 10 touchdowns and 664 yards.
The Chargers dominated as Williams enjoyed one of his peak moments, going 12-4 and reaching the divisional round of the playoffs.

If one looks at the team performance and Williams’ contributions, a case could be made that this was his most fun season of his career, if not his most productive. Still, with three two-touchdown performances between September and January, Williams was electric several times.
Mike Williams’ Last Ride With Philip Rivers – 2019

The Los Angeles Chargers’ wide receiver’s second-best season was Philip Rivers’ last with the Chargers. Williams did all he could to help Rivers go out with a bang, racking up just enough yards to cross the 1,000-yard threshold at 1,001 yards.
He served as the perfect deep threat, leading the league in yards per reception. While the team’s overall result that year left plenty on the table at 5-11, Williams emptied the tank to deliver early and often.
His best two performances were in Week 8 and Week 11, earning 111 yards and 117 yards in those performances.
A Season To Remember – 2021
Williams’ peak took place in 2021, early in Justin Herbert’s career. The wide receiver earned by far the most targets of his career with 129, the most receiving yards (1,146), and the second most touchdowns (nine) of his career. The Chargers also went 9-8, giving Williams a winning record to pair with his production.

Williams didn’t get rewarded with a playoff performance as the Chargers missed the postseason, but still managed to deliver six games of at least 90 yards and one game in particular in which he dominated, racking up 165 yards and two touchdowns against the Cleveland Browns in a Week 5 47-42 thriller.
