After the exciting news was announced that Hyeseong Kim was being called up and would be joining the Los Angeles Dodgers today in Atlanta, a corresponding move was announced shortly after.
After missing Friday’s game due to ankle inflammation, star utility man Tommy Edman is now headed to the IL.
The Dodgers recalled IF/OF Hyeseong Kim and placed IF/OF Tommy Edman on the injured list with a right ankle inflammation, retroactive to April 30.

Los Angeles Dodgers Tommy Edman Put On IL

According to the Dodgers’ announcement, Edman’s IL stint will be backdated to April 30, so that will make him eligible to return for next week’s series against the Arizona Diamondbacks, which begins on Thursday, May 8th.
Edman injured the same ankle that gave him issues last year, but he said yesterday that it was much less concerning and that he didn’t sprain it, just stretched it out during a slide.

Regardless, he heads to the IL and will miss the remainder of the Braves series and a 3-game series with the Miami Marlins.
So far this season, Edman is batting .252, while homering 8 times, with 24 RBIs.
While the starting fielders have stayed relatively healthy, Edman joins a litany of pitchers on the IL, headlined by Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow, Blake Treinen, and Michael Kopech.
In Edman’s place, Hyeseong Kim will make his major league debut after beginning the season in Oklahoma City.
