Pete Alonso has been synonymous with the New York Mets as he has played the entirety of his career with the organization since getting called up to the Majors in 2019.
While there is still an outside chance a deal gets done with the Metropolitans, last year’s playoffs felt like a bit of a farewell tour, and the fact that a deal still has yet to be reached is telling.
After the blockbuster signing of Juan Soto, the Mets also signed outfielder Jesse Winkler and reliever A.J. Minter.
Could Pete Alonso’s time with the Mets be done?
Noah Camras of Newsweek suggested a suitor may be on the rise, and it is one that will surprise many in the baseball world.
Los Angeles Angeles Linked To Potential Pete Alonso Signing
Since losing Shohei Ohtani to the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Angels have needed another top-tier talent to pair with Mike Trout. Alonso could be just that.
“While it’s tough to gauge Alonso’s market right now, he could be willing to take a four-year, $100 million with opt-outs after the second and third year,” Camres writes. “Alonso would get a significantly higher AAV than Santander, while also being able to re-enter free agency when he is 32 years old, and still capable of cashing in as a power threat in the middle of a team’s lineup.”

The Angels have been fairly active during this offseason, but signing Alonso would be the splash that the team needs to pump some juice back into the fanbase while also providing one of the league’s best bats.
