The Los Angeles Dodgers have been heavily linked in MLB rumors this offseason to the top free agents available. With the MLB Winter Meetings approaching, it appears the Dodgers are ramping up their efforts to make a few big moves this offseason.
Los Angeles is being connected to all the top MLB free agents right now. The Dodgers remain the favorites to sign Japanese starting pitcher Roki Sasaki, even with his agent downplaying the speculation. Pitching seems to be the primary focus, with Corbin Burnes and Max Fried also among the club’s free-agent targets as is a potential Garrett Crochet trade with the Chicago White Sox.

As for ways to improve the Dodgers lineup, the defending World Series champions are linked to free-agent outfielder Juan Soto and the front office has long-standing interest in shortstop Willy Adames. Unsurprisingly, Los Angeles is also interested in re-signing All-Star outfielder Teoscar Hernandez.
According to MLB Network‘s Jon Morosi, the Dodgers have made an official contract offer to Soto. Likewise, the Boston Red Sox, New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and New York Yankees have also made offers to Soto while the Philadelphia Phillies are believed to be out of the mix.

Soto is poised to become one of the highest-paid MLB players ever with a contract for 10-plus years that is expected to be worth more than $600 million. Of note, any deal he signs is expected to have multiple opt-out clauses scatted throughout the life of the deal with Soto having the right to decline or exercise the options to test free agency again.
MLB rumors have largely been consistent, however, that Soto is likely to sign with the Mets or Yankees. While it would mean Los Angeles misses out on adding another MVP-caliber bat to pair with Shohei Ohtani Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, there are plenty of other moves being pursued.

Morosi also reported that the Dodgers have engaged in “preliminary dialogue” on a Tommy Edman contract extension. Keeping the reigning NLCS MVP in the fold long-term is also one of the club’s top objectives this winter.

With Betts moving back to the infield next season and the Dodgers still viewed as the favorites to sign Adames, Edman figures to be a versatile Gold Glove defender who sees most of his time in center field. Turning 30 years old in May, any extension with Edman would likely be for no more than 3-5 years.
