Shocking news shook the NFL landscape early Monday morning when former Defensive Player of the Year winner Myles Garrett requested a trade from the Cleveland Browns. While the Browns have already stated their intention to ignore all trade calls on their top talent, now some are wondering if the Los Angeles Chargers could get involved.
Garrett wants to play for a winner, and right now, the Browns don’t classify as a top NFL contender. Meanwhile, the Chargers do fit the criteria, plus they have a franchise quarterback, which could put them at the forefront of the conversation.

NFL insider wonders if Los Angeles Chargers get involved in Myles Garrett trade

The Los Angeles Chargers are projected to have over $50 million in cap space this offseason. Fans have already seen how much Jim Harbaugh loves to reinforce the trenches, though much of that process has focused on the offensive line.
After having the NFL’s best defense last year, the Chargers will have targets on their backs heading into a new season. Yet, even last year’s unit had plenty of room for improvement after ranking 27th in rushing yards per carry allowed.
Another way the Chargers could become bigger threats to contend for a Super Bowl is by adding an elite talent, like Cleveland Browns edge rusher Myles Garrett, who went public with his trade request on Monday.
Nearly immediately, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell linked the Chargers to a potential trade for the six-time Pro Bowler.
“The Browns might also prefer adding young players to fill holes on their roster. Would they ask the Chargers, for example, about Rashawn Slater and/or Tuli Tuipulotu?”

We’re not sure the Chargers would be willing to listen to anything involving Slater. He was the second-highest-graded offensive tackle ranked by Pro Football Focus last season and has already earned two Pro Bowl nods in just four years. Plus, as mentioned, Harbaugh loves building in the trenches.
However, if the Chargers could put together a strong offer based around Tuipulotu, perhaps that would get them in the ballpark for a Garrett trade.
