It took two weeks, but the son of the greatest NFL receiver of all time, and former USC Trojan, Brenden Rice, will officially make his NFL debut today against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Josh Palmer is dealing with an elbow and calf injury so he will miss today’s action, making room for Rice to make his debut.

Brenden Rice Gets The Nod
The Chargers drafted the 6’3, 210-pound receiver out of USC in the 7th round, number 225 overall.
At USC last season, Rice finished with 791 yards on 45 receptions. He had 12 touchdowns and averaged 17.6 yards per reception.
Rice had a solid training camp, and his teammates and coaches raved about his physical traits. Through two games, the Chargers have leaned heavily on the run game, and have not deployed many passing concepts.
Rice will still have to battle for reps today, but if he can get in the game and prove his worth as a blocker, he may just get an opportunity from Justin Herbert.
