USC Trojans Legacy And Number 1 CB In 2026 Class Reveals Potential Commitment

The USC Trojans and Lincoln Riley are finally beginning to prioritize local recruits in the state of California. They made waves when they flipped Centennial QB, Husan Longstreet, from Texas A&M, and now they are one step closer to fortifying their 2026 class with another local prospect.

RJ Sermons, son of former USC running back Rodney Sermons, is down to 10 schools, and not only is USC one of the finalists, but the Trojans are also the favorite, per On3’s prediction machine, with a 93.3% prediction.

USC Trojans Have Good Shot With Legacy RJ Sermons

Sermons’ father played running back at USC from 1994-1997 where he amassed 1,170 total yards and 16 total touchdowns.

Sermons Jr. received an offer from USC back on February 2nd of this year.

The 6′, 180-pound Rancho Cucamonga product is On3’s Number 1 CB in the 2026 class.

There is still a ton of time between now and signing day for the 2026 class, but the California connection seems to be growing. If Sermons were to commit, he would be the 2nd CB in the 2026 class joining 4-star Brandon Lockhart, and the 5th recruit out of 7 total from The Golden State.
