We are two days away from the early signing period on December 4th and the USC Trojans are looking to close on a Top 10 2025 Class. Unfortunately, that took another hit today as their highest-rated commitment, 5-star wide receiver Jerome Myles, de-commited.
Jerome Myles De-commits From USC Trojans

Myles was the 4th WR in the 2025 Class for the Trojans with 4-star Corey Simms, 4-star Tanook Hines, and 4-star Romero Ison.
Steve Wiltfong of On3.com put in a prediction that Texas A&M would end up signing Myles after he was just on campus this past weekend.
We may never know the true reason why Myles chose another school over USC, but we cannot deny the importance that NIL plays in the ultimate decision-making of blue-chip prospects. I will never assume why a young man makes a huge decision without knowing all the facts, but we do know that NIL is a factor, for not just the recruit but also the offering school.
Something to think about.
While the USC Trojans and House of Victory are night and day better in the NIL space than they were a year ago, there are still limits. They may now have a Top 15 NIL Collective in the nation, but I don’t think they have the blank check that schools like Oregon and Texas A&M have.
There is only so much money to go around for a given recruiting class, and 5-star recruits are the most expensive.

This is purely speculation, but I do wonder if SC put a cap on what they could offer Myles knowing that they are in hot pursuit of 5-star DL Jahkeem Stewart, local 4-star LB Madden Faraimo, 4-star DL Christian Ingram, and a few top DB prospects including a late push for local 5-star CB Dijon Lee. Closing these players will come at a price.
Knowing the history of Riley and the offense, I do wonder if there was some conversation about committing to spend more on defense knowing they could make up the talent on offense in other ways.
Again, just thinking out loud, but recruiting is so different these days, so everything is worth considering.
Anytime you lose a 5-star it is certainly a hit to the class, but regardless of what you think about Lincoln Riley, he has proven that he never has a problem filling skill positions with top talent.
If USC does decide that they want a 4th WR for the 2025 class, one name to keep an eye on is 4-star Mission Viejo product Phillip Bell. Bell was very close to committing to USC before ultimately choosing Ohio State. He could certainly be a flip candidate before signing day.
December 4th will be here before we know it. Buckle up, plenty more drama is on the horizon.
