As of this writing, the USC Trojans have two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster heading into the 2025 season. That would include presumed starter Jayden Maiava and incoming 5-star freshman Husan Longstreet.
USC was going to need to add a QB to the roster through the portal and now they have reportedly offered one.
USC Trojans Offer San Jose State QB Emmett Brown
No, not the Emmett Brown who created the Dalorian in Back To The Future, but, in fact, a real QB who is originally from San Marcos, CA.
Brown has a smaller frame standing 5’10” and weighing 187 pounds. Last year at SJSU, he finished with 1,621 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 5 interceptions.
Based on my understanding, if Brown were to commit to USC, he would bring some playing experience and talent to the room, but Maiava would still be perceived as the starter. With Longstreet being a true Freshman, and still extremely raw, having a backup with playing experience would be a much better safety net heading into the season.

The transfer portal is technically now closed, but teams with late bowl games, or who are still playing in the College Football Playoff, get a little extra time after their final game to enter, so there will most likely be more QB options in the coming weeks.
For now, Brown would be a solid backup addition for the USC Trojans.
