At the turn of the New Year, I wrote about J’onre Reed as a potential target for the USC Trojans. After starting two seasons for Syracuse, he entered the transfer portal looking for a new opportunity.
USC, who is losing Jonah Monheim to the NFL Draft, needed to add a Center, and so naturally, it felt like a fit for Reed.
After an official visit this past weekend, the stars aligned and Reed signed with the Trojans.
J’onre Reed Signs With USC Trojans
Reed was the starting center for the Orange and played more than 1,500 snaps over the last two seasons.
Before playing two years at Syracuse, the 6’3″, 316-pound Reed was a JUCO product out of Kansas.
Losing Emmanuel Pregnon, was a huge loss for the Trojans, but adding Reed is certainly a step in the right direction. As it stands right now, the starting five on the offensive line may look something like this:
- LT – Elijah Paige
- LG – DJ Wingfield
- C – J’onre Reed
- RG – Alani Noa
- RT – Tobias Raymond OR Justin Tauanuu
Another great addition as Lincoln Riley and his staff continue to round out this roster.
