Greene steadily increased his playing time throughout the season. After a limited role early on, he became a key contributor, particularly in the final five games. He played a significant role in the season finale against Notre Dame, logging 26 snaps.

Greene played a crucial role in USC’s improved defense under new coordinator D’Anton Lynn. The Trojans made significant strides defensively, reducing their points allowed per game from 34.4 in 2023 to 23.5 in 2024.

Greene had a standout performance against Rutgers, recording three tackles, including two tackles for loss and a sack, which contributed to the USC Trojans victory.

However, the Trojans’ defensive coaching staff is facing changes, as linebackers coach Matt Entz is set to become the head coach at Fresno State.

According to sources familiar with the team, his decision was based, at least in part, on questions about scheme fit and a matter of playing time with the increased amount of defensive linemen joining the team. The team was upfront with him about his potential snap share. Greene was not a recruit of the current defensive coaching staff but from the previous regime.
