The matchup between the USC Trojans and Michigan Wolverines has been met with a lot of anticipation. USC had so much unknown heading into the season, and while the Wolverines are the defending champions, they too are a very different program than just a year ago.
After starting the season 2-1, and a very shaky performance from QB Davis Warren last week against Arkansas State (3 INTs), head coach Sherrone Moore has announced a change at the quarterback position.
Michigan Names Alex Orji Starting QB Ahead Of USC Trojans Matchup
Alex Orju, a former 3-star QB from the state of Texas, is a dual-threat quarterback who brings a lot of versatility to the position. At 6’3, 235 pounds, he has tremendous size, but his throwing accuracy has been questioned and is something that the USC defense can potentially exploit.
In his 3-year career at Michigan, Orji has completed a total of 4 passes, 2 of which went for touchdowns in relief of Warren last week.

It is a bit peculiar why Moore made this announcement early in the week, which will give Lincoln Riley and DC D’Anton Lynn a full week to prepare for the new starting QB.
Was this a major coaching mistake by the first-year head coach, or just something he wanted to announce publically to give his new signal caller confidence?
We will see whether or not it pays off very soon.
The USC Trojans and Michigan Wolverines matchup is scheduled for 12:30 PM PT this Saturday at the Big House.
