USC Trojans Showing Interest In Big Ten Defensive Lineman

We are one week into the Transfer Portal’s opening, and the USC Trojans have lost 17 players to it while signing only one so far.

There have been a few surprises, such as RB Quinten Joyner and WR Duce Robinson, but overall, the roster has mostly held in tact.

Lincoln Riley will need to add roughly 12-14 more players (if no one else leaves) to round out the roster, and many of these will need to be players who could start on Day 1, or at least compete for a starting role.

One position that will be very interesting to keep an eye on is the defensive line. This is a position group that has some very talented young players but is lacking in depth and veteran experience with Gavin Meyer, Nate Clifton, and Jamil Muhammad all heading to the NFL Draft.

We wrote about Kentucky transfer Keeshawn Silver just last week, and now he is trending toward committing to the Trojans. But USC will still need more reinforcements.

According to The Portal Report, USC is showing interest in former Purdue DT Damarjhe Lewis.

Along with USC, Lewis has interest from Boise State, Colorado State, and Louisville (who he is currently visiting).

This will be Lewis’ 3rd collegiate stop after originally attending Indiana before transferring to Purdue.

The 6’3, 301-pound former-Boilermaker was a 3-star recruit out of the state of Georgia.

Last season for Purdue, Lewis finished with 14 total tackles. His only other season registering a sack was in 2021 where he finished with 8 total tackles. He missed the entire 2022 season due to an injury sustained in fall camp, and in 2023 he appeared in 2 games before a season-ending injury.

While statistically speaking, Lewis does not have a lot of tape out there, his size could be a good benefit for the USC Trojans in the middle of the defensive front has a rotational piece.

We will provide an update if a visit is scheduled.
