Miller Moss Has Drastically Improved One Area Of His Game Since Spring Camp

USC Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley has yet to officially name Miller Moss the starting quarterback for the Week 1 matchup against LSU. After fall practice on Thursday, Quarterback Coach Luke Huard was asked about the timeline for naming a starting QB. His response…

“Well, that’s a decision completely up to the head football coach. So we’re just trying to get better every single day and each guy’s trying to improve and when they get their opportunity to get in there with the offense, move the ball around the field.”

We are just a little over two weeks away from the season-opening game, so a decision from Lincoln Riley should be coming very soon.

Miller Moss is seen as the leader in the clubhouse and has been since his breakout performance in the Holiday Bowl, but obviously, every player still needs to improve and transfer QB Jayden Maiava has shown a ton of promise and has received glowing reviews from coaches and teammates.

When asked about what Moss has improved on since Spring Ball, Coach Huard had a very encouraging response.

Miller Moss Has Drastically Improved Taking Care Of Football Since Spring Camp

“You know, he’s doing a great job taking care of the football. That’s certainly one thing. Obviously as a quarterback, naturally, you know, when you’re 10 years old and you’re in the backyard and you’re the quarterback, what was the first thing you usually do, tell your buddy, go deep. Right?

So, you know, I played the position as well. So just taking what the defense gives him, just doing a really good job of just trusting his progression, trusting what he sees, and just really moving the ball down the field and being very, very efficient.”

During the Spring Game, Miller Moss threw a pair of interceptions. It wasn’t a huge concern then, but it’s certainly not something that you want to see from your potential starting quarterback. Based on Coach Huard’s statement, he has cleaned this up drastically since spring camp.

We have talked a lot on the USC LAFB Show about the potential of Moss on Lincoln Riley’s offense and his ability to go through his progressions and really take advantage of the genius that is the offensive system.

Sounds like he is getting more and more comfortable, which is a great sign for USC Football fans, and absolutely terrifying for opposing defenses.
