It’s May 21. We are still over 2 months away from the beginning of fall camp for the USC Trojans. Depth charts are still written in pencil (if that even), and Lincoln Riley hasn’t officially named a starting quarterback (he did, however, state that Miller Moss has a firm lead).
Top 25 rankings mean nothing right now. In fact, they really don’t mean a whole lot until week 2 or 3 of the season. However, love them or hate them, whether you believe it or not, they do hold some weight on how quickly some teams can move up early in the season.
Andy Staples of On3.com just released his Post Spring Portal Top 25, and the USC Trojans cracked the list.
Staples ranks USC at 22, and 5th in the Big 10.
Do The USC Trojans Deserve To Be In The Top 25?
SC has had a solid offseason. They revamped their defensive staff headlined by D’Anton Lynn and Eric Henderson, and welcomed the 20th-ranked 2024 recruiting class, and 19th-ranked transfer portal class, per 247 Sports.
However, there are still more questions than answers, and those answers can’t be found on vibes and excitement alone.

Miller Moss and the offense balled out in the Holiday Bowl. Will these carry over into the regular season in the Trojans’ first year in the Big 10? The defense can’t get any worse, but just how much will they improve in one offseason under Lynn?
USC Football is definitely trending in the right direction, and we get to see it all unfold in Las Vegas against LSU on Labor Day.
