Brenden Rice Reveals Key Factor Behind USC Trojans Recent Receiving Success

After the USC Trojans Pro Day, Brenden Rice was asked why so many recent Trojan receivers into viable pass catchers in the NFL.

“It’s a dog eat dog mentality every day, we go against each other and, shoot, only the strongest and fittest, survive. So every day is a dog fight. You know, we have so many guys that can go other places and be number one guys and that just all makes us better.

USC Trojans Receivers in the NFL

Two USC receivers, Rice and Tahj Washington are expected to be drafted in the upcoming NFL Draft, Thu, Apr 25– Sat, Apr 27. Rice is expected to go in the middle of the third round and Washington is projected to go in the 5th or 6th round.

The two were USC’s most productive receivers in 2023. Washington caught 59 passes for 1062 yards and eight touchdowns. Rice hauled in 45 catches for 791 yards and 12 touchdowns.

The Trojans have had two receivers taken in the first round in the last two seasons, Drake London in 2022 and Jordan Addison in 2023. In 2021, Amon-Ra St. Brown went in the 4th round and emerged last season as one of the best receivers in the league.

USC currently has eight wide receivers active in the NFL.
