The Los Angeles Rams have made some recent moves to their roster and more specifically their secondary. They acquired cornerback Roger McCreary via trade with the Tennessee Titans on October 27th. They released Tre Brown the next day, and a few days later, on November 1st, they elevated cornerback A.J. Green from the practice squad.
They’re trying to improve the defensive backfield as their pass defense is ranked 14th in the NFL, with an average of 208.3 passing yards allowed per game, according to Fox Sports. They could be looking to add another cornerback who played for the other LA team, the Chargers.

Asante Samuel Jr. Could Add Depth To A Injured Rams Secondary

Ian Rapoport reported that free-agent cornerback Asante Samuel Jr. has been cleared for football activities after spinal fusion surgery in April 2025. It was also reported that Samuel Jr. is in contact with multiple teams that could be in the running for a cornerback and plans to visit teams this week.
Samuel Jr. has had a history of injuries, such as multiple concussions, in his rookie season, and in 2024, he sustained a shoulder injury in Week 6 that ruled him out for the rest of the season. When healthy, Samuel Jr. is a good cornerback with quick feet and play recognition. His speed helps him stay with wide receivers in coverage, and he excels in zone coverage.
Throughout Samuel Jr’s career, he’s totaled 176 tackles and 6 interceptions in 50 games played. With the trade deadline coming up, could the Rams make a move for a defensive back or explore a free agent like Samuel Jr. or Stephon Gilmore
The Los Angeles Rams are currently 6-2 and 2nd in the NFC West after a win against the New Orleans Saints, where they defeated them 34-10. The Rams will face rival San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, November 9th, at Levi Stadium.
