UCLA Bruins Key Offensive Starter In 2025 Shockingly Enters Transfer Portal

Just moments after it was announced that UCLA Bruins starting running back TJ Harden would be entering the Transfer Portal, the Bruins were dealt with another blow.

QB Justyn Martin, who many thought would compete for the starting job next season, announced that he would be entering the portal as well.

After a tough up-and-down season, the UCLA Bruins and head coach DeShaun Foster hoped that they had built a solid foundation that would only improve during the offseason. Unfortunately, it appears to be off to a shaky start.

The 6’4, 225-pound local QB out of Inglewood was probably most known for his 13-touchdown game back in high school, but he did get on the field this season, playing for an injured Ethan Garbers against Penn State.

In the game, Martin went 22-30 for 167 yards and a touchdown. It was a performance that had a lot of fans calling for Martin to start the rest of the season.

Going back to Garbers was probably the right call, but the future looked bright for Martin to potentially lead the UCLA Bruins into next season.

That will no longer be the case. Martin has two years of eligibility remaining.

The Bruins have two incoming quarterbacks in their 2025 class, 4-star Madden Iamaleava and 3-star Colton Gumino, and they have two current freshmen QBs in 3-star Henry Hasselback and 3-star Karson Gordon.

DeShaun Foster and Co. will certainly need to add an experienced QB from the transfer portal, and there are already plenty of options to choose from. The question will always remain with UCLA, how much NIL are they willing to shell out?

Former USC Trojans QB Miller Moss could certainly be an interesting option if he wanted to stay in Los Angeles, but players such as Ta’Quan Roberson out of Kansas State could be better fits for what Foster and OC Eric Bieniemy want to do.
