The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to be very active in free agency this offseason, and most of the chatter is centered around what they will do at quarterback. It was just announced that they would be releasing QB Gardner Minshew, and they have been linked to Aaron Rodgers, Justin Fields, Russell Wilson, and others.
Almost as important, however, is who will be protecting whoever is starting under center in 2025. The Raiders need to upgrade their offensive line, and most metric analyses ranked them in the bottom half of the league.
Pro Football Network ranked the unit 22nd in the NFL with a 69.4 grade. Their pressure rate of 35.8% ranked 20th. PFF ranked the Raiders 26th.
In an effort to begin fixing this, the Raiders just signed veteran offensive lineman Alex Cappa, who was just released by the Cincinnati Bengals.

Raiders Sign Veteran OL Alex Cappa

Cappa was drafted by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 3rd round of the NFL Draft in 2018. He signed with the Bengals as a free agent in 2022.
In his first season with the Bengals, Cappa had a solid season, allowing 20 pressures and just 3 sacks. He finished with a 67.6 offensive grade, per PFF. However, last season, he struggled mightily.
In 2024, Cappa allowed a staggering 51 pressures and 8 sacks. While these are not very encouraging numbers, Raiders fans should know that at just 30 years old, Cappa could certainly get back to his earlier years with the right system and coaching.
His deal with Las Vegas is for 2 years and worth $11.2 million. $5.5 million is fully guaranteed at signing. If he continues to play right guard, he would replace Dylan Parham, who last year allowed 36 pressures and 5 sacks.
