After a decade with the Seattle Seahawks, Tyler Lockett is now seeking a new team, having been recently released. Despite his departure, the veteran wide receiver remains a valuable asset and, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, could potentially reunite with a familiar figure during the upcoming free agency period.
“One natural landing spot for soon-to-be former Seahawks WR Tyler Lockett is the Las Vegas Raiders, whose head coach Pete Carroll knows his former wide receiver well. Lockett’s character always has matched his talents, and Carroll always has been a big supporter. Raiders also need WR help,” Schefter wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Could Tyler Lockett Reunite With Pete Carroll With Las Vegas Raiders

Lockett experienced several productive seasons under Carroll’s coaching, and there’s a possibility he could recapture that level of performance by reuniting with a coach who understands his playing style.
The Seahawks’ recent actions clearly indicate a shift in their team’s direction. Shortly after Lockett’s release, reports emerged that DK Metcalf had requested a trade, which the team has indicated they will honor. Metcalf expressed a desire to play for a contender. However, it’s worth noting that a reunion with Carroll on the Raiders shouldn’t be entirely dismissed as a potential destination for Metcalf as well.
Given that Metcalf had been the subject of trade speculation since the conclusion of the 2024 season, his recent trade request was not entirely unexpected.
Following the announcement of Lockett’s release by the Seattle Seahawks, he took to social media to express his gratitude to the organization and its fans.
“I really enjoyed being in Seattle! I met so many great people and captured so many great memories! The 12’s really make this place meaningful! Although, my time on the Seahawks may have run its course I’m thankful for everything!! God gets all the glory forever,” Lockett wrote on X.
