The Las Vegas Raiders, under the leadership of new head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek, are determined to achieve immediate success. With the support of owner Mark Davis and minority owner Tom Brady, the new regime is focused on a swift turnaround for the franchise. Carroll and Spytek have made it clear that they are not interested in a gradual rebuilding process; their goal is to win now.
Carroll’s vision emphasizes a roster filled with players fully committed to the team’s objectives. Those who do not align with the team’s standards will not find a place within the organization. This past week, the Raiders have been proactive in addressing roster gaps left by departing free agents, making strategic signings without overspending or jeopardizing the team’s future. The new leadership has demonstrated a clear and decisive approach.
Las Vegas Raiders in Win-Now Mode in First Year

“Yeah, we have seen it, the first few weeks of free agency that Pete Carroll is bringing in guys who can be physical, who can be tough, and a lot of times you hear a new regime talk about, hey a plan, a three-year plan or patience,” said National NFL reporter Cameron Wolfe.
“This time wants to win now and you can tell by their signings. They go out and get Geno Smith, who some of the executives I talked to thought was the best veteran quarterback option available. You get him a guy you are familiar with. He can establish the culture for your offense. They had a lot of success together in Seattle. You got a run game that was last in the NFL last year. You bring in a veteran in Raheem Mostert, who in 2023 made a Pro Bowl.”
The Raiders’ focus on immediate results is evident in their free agency moves, particularly the acquisition of Geno Smith, a veteran quarterback familiar with Carroll’s system, and running back Raheem Mostert, a Pro Bowl selection in 2023. “But then you look at most of their moves on the defensive side of the ball and it really screams what they are trying to build,” Wolfe added, highlighting the team’s emphasis on physicality and toughness in their defensive roster construction.
