Ari Meirov reports that former Las Vegas Raiders defensive back Nate Hobbs has been signed by the Green Bay Packers. This comes in the wake of losing safety Tre’von Moehrig to the Carolina Panthers and signing former Washington Commander safety Jeremy Chinn.
Las Vegas Raiders Lose Nate Hobbs To Packers

Hobbs’s 2024 season did not quite meet the expectations set by his strong 2023 performance. Entering the year as a starter under head coach Antonio Pierce, Hobbs faced setbacks due to injuries, limiting him to 11 games and seven starts. During his time on the field, he recorded one interception, five passes defended, 49 tackles, two tackles for loss, and one quarterback hit, earning a 61.4 PFF grade, which ranked 73rd out of 116 eligible players. The Raiders’ season mirrored Hobbs’s struggles, as they failed to reach the playoffs and ultimately parted ways with Pierce.
Hobbs began his NFL career with a promising rookie season, establishing himself as a tenacious slot defender. However, subsequent seasons have been marked by intermittent absences from the lineup, with injuries forcing him to miss several games in each of the past three years.
Despite primarily playing in the slot, Hobbs possesses the physical dimensions to transition to an outside cornerback role. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 195 pounds, he has the size necessary for the position, though he has not been frequently utilized in that capacity during his career. In his current slot role, Hobbs excels at the physical aspects of the game, demonstrating a willingness to engage in the more demanding aspects of run support. Additionally, he has proven to be an effective blitzer on nickel packages, adding another dimension to his defensive capabilities.
