Las Vegas Raiders Eyeing Top RB And QB With 2 New Private Meetings

The Las Vegas Raiders are actively engaged in the pre-draft evaluation process, reportedly hosting Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty and Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers for visits, as reported by NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport on Monday. These visits offer valuable insights into their potential draft strategies as they prepare for the upcoming season.

The visit with Ashton Jeanty comes as little surprise, given that the Raiders hold the No. 6 overall selection in the draft. Many mock drafts have begun to project the highly talented running back as a potential addition to the roster early in the first round. Jeanty’s impressive collegiate career at Boise State has positioned him as one of the top running back prospects in the 2025 draft.

The inclusion of Quinn Ewers in the Raiders’ pre-draft visits is more intriguing, as he is generally not considered a consensus first-round pick at this juncture. However, Ewers could be a potential target for the Raiders in the second round, where they hold the No. 37 overall pick, the fifth selection of that round.

Ewers presents an interesting option as a potential future franchise quarterback for Las Vegas. The Raiders currently have veteran quarterback Geno Smith, acquired in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks, reuniting him with new head coach Pete Carroll.

Ewers’ visit was initially scheduled for late March, following reports from SI’s Albert Breer that he would also be visiting the Dallas Cowboys and Indianapolis Colts. Now, this visit appears to have become official. Ewers’ final college season at Texas had moments of brilliance, as he threw for 3,472 yards and a career-best 31 touchdowns.

However, he also faced challenges, with his completion percentage dropping to 65.8%, and he threw a career-worst 12 interceptions while dealing with injuries that lingered throughout his junior year.

Despite these inconsistencies, Ewers managed to improve his draft stock with his performance at the NFL Combine in early March. This showing has led many analysts to project him just outside the top five quarterbacks in this draft class, but still within the top ten.

As a result, Ewers could hear his name called at any point on the second or third day of the draft, with the impressions he makes on teams over the next four weeks being crucial in determining his ultimate draft slot. Ewers represents a complex evaluation for teams, considering his earlier projections versus his current standing as a prospect, and these pre-draft visits will be vital in shaping his final draft position.
