Raiders Brock Bowers Lands In Surprising Spot In Latest TE Rankings

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Brock Bowers quickly became one of the best players in the entire NFL.

As a rookie, he made the Pro Bowl and was named an All-Pro, signifying that he was the best player at his position that season.

Pro Football Focus just released their positional rankings for the 2025 season, and surprisingly, despite all this, they did not rank Bowers in the top spot. They gave that honor to San Francisco 49ers tight end George Kittle.

George Kittle has been a staple at the tight end position for nearly a decade. He has been an All-Pro twice and had another very good season in 2024. So it is not surprising that PFF game him the top spot, but should the Raiders’ TE be above him?

John Kosko of PFF writes of Bowers’ ranking:

“You might argue that this is a generous ranking for Bowers after one season in the NFL, but a changing of the guard may be near after what he accomplished as a rookie. The Georgia product ranked second in PFF WAR and third in PFF overall grade in 2024. Despite dealing with arguably the worst quarterback room in the NFL, he produced an all-time rookie season.”

Bowers finished last year with 112 receptions, 1194 yards, and five touchdowns. While he was voted All-Pro, he finished 2nd in Rookie of the Year voting behind Washington Commanders QB Jayden Daniels.

Bowers accomplished this despite having Aidan O’Connell and Gardner Minshew as his quarterbacks throughout the year.

With Geno Smith at the helm for the Raiders, there should be much more consistency in the passing game. Offensive Coordinator Chip Kelly also loves to utilize the tight end position, so Bowers could see his stats go up even more from his historic rookie season.

Kittle may still be the top TE in the league, but Brock Bowers is already on his way to taking over that honor.
