The Los Angeles Rams were defeated 26-23 in an exciting overtime game against the San Francisco 49ers in SoFi Stadium on Thursday, October 2. The 49ers increased their record to 4-1 while the Rams dropped to 3-2. A major factor in the victory for San Francisco was the passing attack.
49ers quarterback Mac Jones had a day, throwing for 342 yards and 2 touchdowns, completing 33/49 passes. New 49ers receiver Kendrick Bourne showed off the connection him and Jones previously had in New England, having 10 catches for 142 yards. But another story of the contest was the Rams’ secondary struggling.
It was reported by Nate Atkins of The Athletic that Head Coach Sean McVay expressed concern for the group and shed light on the possibility of adding to it, while also spawning multiple Rams trade rumors
With potential moves in the secondary looming, here are 4 cornerbacks that the LA Rams should go after.

1. Greg Newsome
Cleveland Browns cornerback Greg Newsome has been a staple in their defense and one of the best slot defenders in the NFL, but is also getting reps on the outside. Newsome is set to become a Free Agent in 2026, but could immediately contribute to the Rams’ second secondary.
2. Cam Taylor-Britt
Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt has been a playmaker in the league for quite some time. He’s a good man to corner who has an eye for the ball, and his I.Q. aids him in route recognition in zone coverage. The Bengals’ defense has been struggling, but a change of scenery may work wonders for the 4th year player.
3. Amik Robertson
Detroit Lions’ Amik Robertson has made a substantial contribution to the Lions’ secondary. Detroit is known to have a great defense, and Robertson has been a productive player for them. In 2024, he had 50 total tackles that included 4 TFLs, 8 passes defended, and 3 forced fumbles. In 2025, Robertson has amassed 13 Total Tackles, 1 Interception and 2 Passes Defended in five games played. Robertson has played in the slot but also on the outside and could bring versatility to the Rams’ cornerback room.
4. Jamel Dean
Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Super Bowl Champion Jamel Dean has been a key piece in the Bucs’ defense. Dean is a speedster, which aids him in keeping up with some of the top wideouts in the NFL. Dean is a physical player and willing tackler who gives ideal run support. Dean excels in zone coverage with good reads on the quarterback and ball Skills. According to Yahoo Sports and other media outlets that Jamel Dean took a pay cut in September 2025 and will be a Free Agent in 2026.
