Latest Matthew Stafford Workout Update Adds More Mystery To Los Angeles Rams QB Situation

Unless you have been living under a rock, you know that Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has been dealing with an aggravated disk in his back and has yet to practice since spring mini-camp.

Last Saturday, he completed a workout before the Rams game with the Dallas Cowboys, and all indications were that it went fantastic. After the game, head coach Sean McVay said that the workout went great and that Stafford had no limitations.

It was presumed that he would return to practice on Monday.

Monday came. No Stafford. Tuesday came. No Stafford.

There was no panic, but it certainly raised more questions. During the week, McVay told reporters that Stafford would partake in another Saturday workout, and then they would evaluate again after that.

Here is where it gets a little weird, and perhaps a bit concerning.

Ahead of the Rams’ game against the Los Angeles Chargers, reporters asked a team spokesperson if Matthew Stafford completed his workout prior to the game.

According to Gary Klein of the LA Times, the Rams’ official “declined to comment and said coach Sean McVay would address the situation on Monday.”

Now this could be as simple as a team employee leaving it up the the head coach to give any updates on their star quarterback.

But the language is also interesting, and it makes you wonder if it did not go well, or if something else happened.

Had the workout gone as planned, and Stafford felt primarily good during it, you would think the official would have simply confirmed that it happened, but then left it to McVay to expand on. The fact that they did not even want to comment on it is certainly a bit alarming.

Hopefully, this is nothing. But the nothing that it was at the end of July has already turned into quite the something in mid-August.

We will have more on this story as it continues to develop.
