Rams Trade Rumors Shift To 2 Pass Catchers After Latest Puka Nacua Injury Update

The Los Angeles Rams improved to 4-2 with a gritty 17-3 win over the Baltimore Ravens, but the victory came at a cost. Star wideout Puka Nacua suffered an ankle sprain that could sideline him for multiple weeks, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.

“WR Puka Nacua, the NFL’s leader in catches, suffered an ankle sprain that will likely cause him to miss time,” Rapoport wrote on X.

Head coach Sean McVay confirmed that the team is proceeding cautiously.

“Puka tried to be able to give it a go, just didn’t feel good enough,” McVay said. “He maybe could have really pressed through, but we were kind of more being smart than anything.”

With Nacua sidelined and Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson still working their way back from injury, the Rams’ trade focus has reportedly shifted to adding another pass catcher before the deadline.

Rams Trade Rumors: Two Targets to Watch

1. Rashod Bateman (WR, Ravens)
CBS Sports floated Rashod Bateman as a logical target for GM Les Snead. The 2021 first-round pick has been underutilized in Baltimore’s sluggish offense, catching just 11 passes for 120 yards and a touchdown. With the Ravens struggling at 1-5, Bateman could be available for mid-round draft compensation — a low-risk move to support Matthew Stafford during Nacua’s absence.

2. Chig Okonkwo (TE, Titans)
Tennessee tight end Okonkwo has also been mentioned as a fit. At 26, he offers reliable hands (71% career catch rate) and athletic upside that could complement Higbee while providing long-term value in McVay’s system.

The Rams will face the Jaguars in London before a Week 8 bye, giving them time to evaluate trade options — and, hopefully, get their star receiver back for a critical NFC stretch run.
