CBS Sports’ Cody Benjamin recently suggested that the Los Angeles Rams pursue Tennessee Titans tight end Chigoziem Okonkwo, one of the few dynamic playmakers on a struggling 1–5 Titans squad. His proposed deal would send Okonkwo to Los Angeles for a 2026 fifth-round pick.
“Tyler Higbee just had a nice day for Los Angeles, but the former Super Bowl champion has been spotty this year after missing most of 2024 due to injury,” Benjamin wrote. “Puka Nacua is also freshly banged up out wide, giving Sean McVay’s all-star unit a new dose of durability concerns. Enter Okonkwo … as an immediate depth piece to aid Matthew Stafford’s passing attack, and as a potential long-term chess piece for McVay’s offense.”
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler and Matt Bowen echoed the fit, adding weight to the Rams trade rumors, noting Okonkwo “has the alignment versatility to create pass-game matchups for a team that caters to his traits as a receiver.” Bowen described him as a “move tight end with the ability to stretch the seams and produce after the catch.”

The Rams’ Week 7 win in London over Jacksonville showcased just how comfortable McVay has become leaning into heavier formations. According to The Athletic’s Robert Mays, Los Angeles used 13 personnel “at one point, at the highest rate in the Next Gen Stats era.”
That adjustment sparked a breakout from rookie Terrence Ferguson, who hauled in a 31-yard touchdown and helped the Rams rack up over 100 yards from their tight ends.
With Tyler Higbee, Colby Parkinson, and Ferguson forming a solid rotation, Los Angeles isn’t desperate. But Okonkwo’s explosive athletic profile could elevate that group — and help McVay sustain his evolving offense if Nacua’s recovery lingers.
As one NFC scout put it, “Okonkwo feels like a Rams player — versatile, smart, and built for McVay’s system.”
