The Rams’ Road Trip To Face Seahawks Already Off to a Rocky Start

The Los Angeles Rams’ trip to Seattle for a pivotal NFC West showdown has already hit turbulence—literally. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the team’s flight encountered an equipment issue, delaying the players’ and coaches’ departure and forcing last-minute adjustments to travel plans.

“The Rams’ team flight that was supposed to be leaving any minute now is expected to be significantly delayed due to an equipment issue with the plane, per sources,” Schefter reported. “The team currently is working on alternative travel arrangements to prevent any further delays getting to Seattle.”

Schefter later updated that the players and coaches would depart on a 737 scheduled for 5:25 p.m. PT, while the remainder of the staff would leave later on a separate plane.

A Season of Travel Challenges

This isn’t the first time the Rams have dealt with obstacles on the road this season. Head coach Sean McVay previously had to travel separately from the team to avoid risking illness ahead of Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals—a strategy that still allowed him to patrol the sidelines and help guide Los Angeles to a decisive 45-17 win.

The timing of the trip adds urgency. The Rams face the Seahawks at Lumen Field on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. ET in a matchup that carries significant playoff implications. Both teams enter Week 16 with identical 11-3 records, battling not just for the NFC West crown but also for the top seed in the conference. Los Angeles currently holds the tiebreaker, having edged Seattle 21-19 in Week 11 at SoFi Stadium, but a Seahawks victory could hand them sole possession of first place with just two weeks remaining in the regular season.

High Stakes on Both Sides

Offensively, the Rams boast the NFL’s No. 2 scoring attack, averaging 30 points per game. Seattle counters with the league’s No. 2 scoring defense, allowing just 17.3 points per contest. In their first meeting, Los Angeles leaned on opportunistic play from its defense, intercepting Sam Darnold four times, while Matthew Stafford completed 15-of-28 passes for 130 yards and two touchdowns. Kyren Williams added 91 rushing yards and a score, giving the Rams a balanced attack that proved enough to take the narrow win.

Both teams enter the rematch on hot streaks. The Rams have won two straight, while Seattle has rattled off four consecutive victories, including a thrilling 18-16 win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 15.

The Road Ahead

Before the NFC West showdown can even begin, the Rams must navigate their travel issues and arrive in Seattle ready to compete. With playoff positioning and a divisional title on the line, the stakes could not be higher—and a rocky start to the road trip adds another layer of drama to an already crucial contest.
