The Los Angeles Rams suffered a double blow in their Week 11 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks, losing two key contributors to injury. Wide receiver Xavier Smith was ruled out for the remainder of Sunday’s contest after suffering a concussion in the first half, while safety Quentin Lake was sidelined with an elbow injury.
Offensive Setback
Smith’s departure leaves the Rams with limited depth at wide receiver. He had caught one of two targets for eight yards and added a 22-yard kickoff return before exiting the game. With Tutu Atwell already on injured reserve and Davante Adams and Jordan Whittington listed on the injury report, rookie Konata Mumpfield and Puka Nacua are now the team’s only healthy receivers.
Smith’s absence could result in increased opportunities for Mumpfield, both in the passing game and on special teams. The injury is another setback for an offense that has largely remained healthy this season but now faces a thin group of wideouts against a formidable Seattle defense.

Quentin Lake’s exit is significant for Los Angeles’ defensive versatility. Analyst Ted Nguyen noted, “Quentin Lake being out for the rest of the game is huge. He’s a big reason they’re able to play sub against heavy personnel. They got a pick as I was typing this. Getting SEA into a negative game script would make it much easier on the defense obviously.”
Lake’s absence opens the door for other safeties to step into larger roles, including Jaylen McCollough, Josh Wallace, and recent acquisition Roger McCreary. The Rams will need contributions from these players to maintain defensive cohesion and limit Seattle’s opportunities.
Outlook
While the Rams have been one of the league’s healthiest teams this year, this Week 11 injury surge highlights the fragility of any roster. Los Angeles will need to lean on its depth and adapt quickly if it hopes to stay competitive against the Seahawks and protect its playoff positioning.
