Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua rose to stardom in his first season in the NFL in 2023, breaking a record at the time for the most receiving yards by a rookie with 1,486 and receptions with 105. In 2024, Nacua totaled 79 catches for 990 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Nacua has surely made a name for himself, and this year, he’s been nothing shy of great. Through the first 4 games of the 2025 season, Nacua has amassed 42 catches for 503 yards and a touchdown, being #1 in the NFL in Targets and Receptions. His most productive day thus far came against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 4, where the Rams won 27-20 in a close, thrilling game. In the contest, Nacua caught 13 passes for 170 yards and a touchdown, obtaining a career high in receiving yards.

Puka Nacua has been a reliable target for Quarterback Matthew Stafford throughout his career with the Rams. After the game against Indianapolis, Stafford offered positive remarks for Nacua saying that he’s
“As tough as they come, did a hell of a job again today. We called his number quite a few times. The fourth down was huge, the touchdown catch. He’s a heck of a football player. We’re lucky to have him on our team. I think his play style rubs off on everybody on our team, not just the offense. I think our defense looks at him and is like, ‘sh*t, we’ll ride with that guy all day.’ And I know that’s how we feel on offense.”
Nacua is a dynamic player who the Rams use in a multitude of ways all over the field. In the slot, out wide and various plays that get the star wideout the ball. Fellow wide receiver and teammate Devante Adams harped on the versatile play calling of Head Coach Sean McVay and how that assists with Nacua’s production, saying,
“He’s got a lot more tools than what people realize. Great hands and strong at the catch point, and he’s obviously really tough to bring down once he’s running with the ball. So that mixed with the ways that Sean can call these plays up and get him in some positions to make plays, that’s a little bit of it. That still doesn’t really tell you what makes him (Nacua) great. You gotta feel it and understand he’s a gamer.”
What Makes Puka Special in the Sean McVay Offense

Puca Nacua Breakdown:
Puke Nacua is a supreme asset to the Rams’ offense as they scheme ways to get him open and make plays. Nacua is a receiver with good footwork who can go up and make the crazy catches, even on the 50/50 ones. While not the fastest, he can still create separation, and with the ball in his hands, he’s hard to bring down as he excels in the Yards after Catch (YAC) category.
Having one of the best in Davante Adams on the other side makes it even harder for defenses to match up with Nacua because you can’t double him with Adams on the field. Given that Nacua has been having a great season up to this point and exceeding career highs, he’s being considered as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and maybe even the best right now as it pertains to his production on the field, which leads to winning games.
