Rams WR Gets Green Light For Week 15 Lions Game Despite Injury

The Los Angeles Rams may list Davante Adams as questionable for Sunday’s showdown against the Detroit Lions, but internally, the expectation is far more optimistic.

Adams, who has been managing a lingering hamstring strain, is on track to play in Week 15 despite missing practice earlier in the week. Head coach Sean McVay confirmed Friday that the veteran wide receiver would be a limited participant and indicated confidence in his availability.

The designation, while technically accurate, appears more procedural than predictive.

Adams did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday, a familiar pattern for the All-Pro receiver as he manages the injury. Still, McVay downplayed any serious concern.

The plan, according to the coaching staff, is for Adams to suit up Sunday against Detroit. ESPN’s Adam Schefter echoed that expectation, reporting that Adams is anticipated to play despite the questionable listing.

It mirrors last week’s approach, when Adams entered the Rams’ Week 14 matchup against Arizona under similar circumstances.

A Familiar Scenario From Week 14

Against the Cardinals, Adams played through the hamstring issue but was clearly not at full throttle. He finished with four catches for 29 yards in a 45–17 Rams win, functioning more as a situational weapon than a focal point.

Sunday presents a different challenge.

Detroit’s secondary has been battered by injuries, and the Rams expect Matthew Stafford to aggressively attack through the air. Having Adams available—especially in scoring territory—dramatically alters that equation.

Why Adams Still Changes Everything

Even while limited at times this season, Adams has been one of the league’s most devastating red-zone weapons. He enters Week 15 with 56 receptions for 718 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdown catches.

Twelve of those scores have come inside the red zone, where Adams’ route precision and physicality consistently overwhelm defensive backs. His overall catch rate may not reflect elite efficiency, but his situational impact—particularly on early downs and near the goal line—remains unmatched.

Assuming the hamstring does not significantly compromise his explosiveness, Adams is positioned to be a nightmare matchup for a Lions defense already stretched thin.

The Rams are also expecting reinforcements elsewhere in the receiving corps.

McVay said the team plans to activate Tutu Atwell from injured reserve. Atwell has been sidelined with a hamstring injury of his own, and his return adds speed and spacing to an offense that thrives on stressing coverage horizontally and vertically.

With Adams, Atwell, and a healthy Stafford, the Rams’ passing game regains much of its late-season form at the most critical point on the calendar.

Stakes Rising in the NFC West Race

Sunday’s matchup carries significant playoff implications.

Los Angeles enters Week 15 tied with the Seattle Seahawks at 10–3, holding the tiebreaker after a Week 11 win. Following the Lions, the Rams travel to Seattle in a game that could ultimately decide the NFC West and determine who earns a first-round bye.

The stakes are unmistakable, and the Rams appear intent on pushing forward with their stars on the field—even if not at 100 percent.
