The Los Angeles Rams continued shoring up their offensive line this week, signing lineman Mike McAllister to a one-year deal while making several other roster moves. Wide receiver Mario Williams was waived with an injury designation, and outside linebacker Keir Thomas II was placed on injured reserve.
McAllister is no stranger to Los Angeles, having spent time on the Rams’ offseason and practice squad rosters in 2023 and 2024. The former Youngstown State standout entered the league as an undrafted free agent and has yet to appear in a regular-season game. At Youngstown State, he played in 30 games, starting 17 at center.

The Rams also added depth with John Leglue, another versatile lineman who has bounced around the league since entering as an undrafted free agent in 2019. Leglue has had stints with the Broncos, Saints, Packers, Steelers, Titans, and Falcons, starting five games for Pittsburgh in 2021. He most recently spent the 2024 season on the Steelers’ practice squad.
The moves reflect both a desire for insurance and a response to uncertainty at left tackle. Starter Alaric Jackson, who signed a three-year, $57 million extension earlier this offseason, is recovering from blood clots in his leg. Head coach Sean McVay offered an encouraging update Monday, saying Alaric Jackson is “on track” in his rehab.
“He’s able to be physically active, there’s just some restrictions in regard to being able to participate in some of the full team activities,” McVay said, via Stu Jackson of the team’s website.

In July, McVay expressed optimism that Alaric Jackson would be ready to begin the season. The 27-year-old has been a steady presence for Los Angeles, starting 35 games over the past three years.
Still, the Rams prepared for contingencies by signing veteran D.J. Humphries to a one-year deal earlier this summer. Humphries, who brings nine seasons of NFL starting experience, would likely slide into the starting role if Jackson isn’t cleared for Week 1. The team also has Warren McClendon and David Quessenberry as rotational options.
For a franchise with high expectations in 2025, bolstering the offensive line remains a priority. Whether Jackson returns on time or Humphries is called upon, the Rams now have more depth than they did a year ago—a necessity in protecting Matthew Stafford and keeping the offense on schedule.
