Insider Gives High Praise To Los Angeles Rams UDFA, But Class Falls Short

The Los Angeles Rams have a history of finding undrafted gems, and this UDFA class attempts to be no different. Last season saw multiple UDFAs have a serious impact; Jaylen McCollough had 4 interceptions.

Just a few days ago, I wrote about three players who I believe are locks to make the roster. One of those locks is getting high praise from an NFL insider, but the rest of the class falls short.

NFL Draft Analyst for Fantasy Life, Thor Nystrom, just completed his annual UDFA rankings. For the NFC, he has the Rams ranking towards the bottom.

In his NFC UDFA rankings, Nystrom puts the Rams towards the bottom, finishing 12th out of 16 teams. He ranks the Cowboys, Cardinals, Bears, and Lions below the Rams. He gives the Vikings the No. 1 spot in the NFC.

He does, however, offer high praise for two signings.

“The Rams signed two of this draft class’ most-popular undersized warriors, iOL Willie Lampkin and LB Shaun Dolac. Both were outstanding collegiate players whose measurables were questioned by the NFL during the pre-draft process.

Lampkin is a former wrestler with an understanding of grappling and leverage that are suited for his sawed-off frame. Lampkin was a five-year starter in college who made the all-conference team each year. That culminated last year in First-Team Associated Press All-American honors at UNC. He’s got a shot to stick as a backup center.

Dolac is a tweener with the build of a safety. But he’s a strong athlete with good instincts who was ultra-active in the MAC. Last year, he posted 168 tackles, 19 TFL, 6.5 sacks, and 5 interceptions en route to consensus All-American honors.”

We spoke about both Lampkin and Dolac on the latest Rams LAFB Show and think they both have a good shot to make the roster.

Trey Redig also gets a decent rank from Nystrom as he was his 23rd-ranked offensive tackle in the entire class.
