“Talking to a couple of the Patriots defensive players…they were like, ‘This the easiest game we’ve ever played in…” Gurley told the hosts

Gurley performance in Super Bowl LIII was significantly hampered by the Patriots’ defensive game plan. Limited to just 10 carries for 35 yards, Gurley struggled to find running lanes as the Patriots also effectively shut down the Rams’ passing attack.

The Rams’ overall offensive output was severely impacted, with the team managing only 62 rushing yards, their lowest total of the season.

Furthermore, Gurley revealed a significant detail on the podcast: Patriots defenders informed him after the game that the Rams’ coaching staff had failed to effectively counter their defensive strategies, leaving Gurley isolated and unable to make a significant impact on the game.

“‘[Patriots defenders said] We just knew y’all was coming with some stuff like at halftime or whatever. Y’all just never made no adjustments,'” Gurley recalled. “They just thought we were just gonna just come out in the second half, make some crazy adjustments. They were just like, ‘Honestly we’ve never played a game that easy.’ You know from like an X’s and O’s standpoint.”
