Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua recently raised eyebrows when he mentioned his intention to retire from professional football at the relatively young age of 30. However, in a more recent appearance on Julian Edelman’s “Games With Names” podcast, Nacua discussed his post-football aspirations in a manner that strongly suggested he was being facetious.
Los Angeles Rams’ WR Puka Nacua Highlights Retirement Plans

During the podcast, Nacua jokingly outlined a plan to play overseas basketball, envisioning himself joining a team in a lesser-known country where he would secure ownership, take a high volume of shots each night, act as his own coach, manage his playing time, and even handle ticket sales – all while trying to engage in some “actual business.”
“I wanna go play overseas basketball,” Nacua said. “Like, I’m sure I could go to another country that only 25 percent of the world’s ever heard [of] before, get ownership in the team and I’m gonna get 25 shots up a night. I’m gonna be the coach. I’m gonna sub my own minutes in, and then I’m gonna make sure that we’re getting ticket sales at the end of it, like trying to work some actual business.”
While the notion of Nacua transitioning to professional basketball after retiring from the NFL appears to be a humorous exaggeration, his earlier comments about retiring at 30 seemed more sincere. Whether his perspective on an early retirement shifts as he approaches that milestone remains to be seen.
