It is officially past 1:00 PM PT, and the Los Angeles Rams have finalized their 53-man roster ahead of Week 1 of the 2025 NFL season.
It’s one of the toughest days of the year, as many players who have given everything they have will see their time with the team end. However, many will find new life with new teams, and many will also stay right in Los Angeles with the Rams on their practice squad.
Here are the final cuts to bring the Los Angeles Rams roster down to 53, along with the ones that we found surprising.

There are a few surprise cuts on this list, but I think the real stunner is 2025 5th round pick Chris Paul Jr. The former LB out of Ole Miss demonstrated a lot of promise and was someone the Los Angeles Rams were thrilled to be able to draft just a few months ago.
This says more about the surprise of UDFA Shaun Dolac, perhaps, than it does about Paul Jr. However, it also continues to show the Rams’ love for Troy Reeder.

If Paul Jr. clears waivers and is able to join the Los Angeles Rams’ practice squad, then this transaction will work out for everyone. But if he is claimed by another team, then it will be interesting to see why the Rams chose to go this route, versus waiving Reeder, who could have immediately joined the practice squad and would not have to go through waivers, based on veteran status.
Needless to say, this move could be one that we talk about for some time.
Another move that will surprise some is the release of Derion Kendrick.
Kendrick was released from the team this offseason, only to be re-signed by the team just a few days later. He has had a very up-and-down career so far and missed all of last season due to injury. It will be interesting to see if they bring him back on the practice squad as well.

A.J. Acuri is another name who was a depth piece on the offensive line. The team traded KT Leveston to the Cleveland Browns for a future 7th-round pick earlier this morning and has now released Acuri.
This must signal that they feel very confident about the room that they have, and that Alaric Jackson is trending in the right direction.
We will have more on the final 53 soon.
