Los Angeles Rams COO Takes Shot At Rivals Fan For Tired Criticism

The Los Angeles Rams are solidifying their commitment to the Los Angeles area with an ambitious development project in Woodland Hills, California. The NFC West team unveiled plans on Sunday for “Rams Village,” a comprehensive 52-acre neighborhood slated for Warner Center. This expansive project will encompass a wide array of facilities, including indoor and outdoor practice fields, the team’s headquarters, retail spaces, parkland, offices, open green spaces, a hotel, restaurants, and multiple indoor entertainment venues.

According to the announcement, Rams Village will occupy a portion of the nearly 100 acres acquired by the Kroenke Organization in 2022. E. Stanley Kroenke expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “This is a tremendous opportunity to develop a dynamic destination and create the Rams’ permanent headquarters within the City of Los Angeles.”

Of course, with all things in the world, these plans were heavily discussed and dissected on social media, including by fans of the San Francisco 49ers. One such fan jokingly offered their input, “75% of the building should be filled by other NFL teams just like SOFI.”

This caught the eye of Rams Chief Operating Officer, Kevin Demoff, who responded with a biting dig, “Imagine the insecurity you must have to jump into a post about another team’s practice facility plans.”

The fans’ joke reflects a long-standing trope leveled against the Rams fan base, that their home-field advantage is non-existent due to throngs of opposing fans descending on the SoFi Stadium. While the trope has become rote, it persists because it is also true. But building a fan base is no easy feat, especially when that team resides in one of America’s top tourist destinations.

But this development is the kind of large investment that will pay dividends to that effort. The Rams brass are well aware of the herculean effort before them, but it is obvious from the Rams Village, SoFi stadium, and the track record of Kroenke Sports and Entertainment that they are actively tackling these challenges. It is also evident that they realize that building a lasting and robust fan base (especially in Los Angeles) begins and ends with creating a winning team.

The Rams’ return to Los Angeles ahead of the 2016 season marked a significant chapter in the franchise’s history, following a 21-year stint in St. Louis (1995-2015). The team’s origins trace back to Cleveland (1937-1945) before their initial tenure in Los Angeles (1946-1994). Rams Village underscores the team’s long-term commitment to the region and will provide them with a state-of-the-art headquarters as they strive to build a consistent contender in the NFC West.

Notably, the Rams’ existing two full-sized grass practice fields will be integrated into the new development. The plans also include a new indoor practice facility with a seating capacity of up to 2,500 people, as well as two indoor performance venues, one of which will feature 5,000 seats. These larger venues are envisioned to host a variety of events, such as concerts and awards shows, further establishing Rams Village as a community hub. Given the scale of the project, its various components will be unveiled over several years through a phased construction schedule.

Coming off a 10-7 record in 2024, which included their fourth playoff appearance in five years and a Super Bowl victory within that span (though they lost to the eventual-champion Philadelphia Eagles in the Divisional Round this past season), the Rams will have a different look in 2025. The departure of Cooper Kupp and the arrival of Davante Adams in the wide receiver group signal offensive changes. Despite earlier speculation, veteran quarterback Matthew Stafford is set to remain under center, leading the team into this new era anchored by their burgeoning presence in Woodland Hills.
