Jimmy Garoppolo’s decision to remain with the Los Angeles Rams on a one-year deal ensures continuity in the team’s quarterback depth chart, as he continues to serve as Matthew Stafford’s backup. According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Garoppolo’s contract includes $4.505 million in guaranteed money and up to $9 million in incentives, bringing the maximum value of the deal to $13.505 million. This structure mirrors his previous contract with the Rams, where he received $3.2 million guaranteed with a potential maximum value of $12 million. Thus, Garoppolo receives a modest increase compared to his 2024 contract. While his 2024 cap hit was $3.18 million, his 2025 cap hit will be slightly higher.

This signing represents a strategic move by the Rams, who have opted for experienced depth over relying solely on Stetson Bennett. Garoppolo’s experience and positive rapport with the Rams’ coaching staff from the previous year provide the team with a dependable backup option should Stafford sustain an injury.
